The Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace is a qualification designed for supervisors, managers, and professionals in the workplace to help them implement and monitor Occupational Health & Safety standards Level 4. How long will it take to achieve this qualification?

Of course, this Level 4 award in Health and Safety at workplace is usually delivered via a 5-day classroom-based course, along with a minimum of 35 hours of contact time. Learners may also opt for other delivery methods that include blended and distance education.

How is the Qualification Assessed?

The qualification is assessed in two parts:

Part 1: Externally set and marked practical activities, including:

• Undertake a risk assessment.
• Construct a safe system of work.

Part 2: A three-hour written exam based on a case study of an imaginary business. Learners need to be able to evaluate current practices regarding Health and Safety in the Workplace (QCF) Level 4 and recommend improvements in policies and procedures.

Both parts must be completed successfully for learners to pass the qualification. The written exam sets the final grade: Pass: 60%, Merit: 70%, Distinction: 80%
