What Course is NEBOSH IG?
The NEBOSH IG is a certificate level 3 qualification in occupational Health Safety & Environment discipline. The NEBOSH International General Certificate covers a range of workplace hazards and methods of control. It includes international standards for safety and health management including International Labour Organisation codes of practice. Local laws and cultural factors may form part of the study programme where relevant and appropriate.
What is the Open Book Exam (OBE)?
NEBOSH has introduced the new pattern for IG certificates, it is now an open book online exam. (OBE) is a permanent replacement for invigilated paper based examinations for NEBOSH IG. Open book examinations are commonly used and are a valid and reliable form of assessment that enables you to sit your NEBOSH assessment from your own home or other safe and suitable location
How Many Exams are there in NEBOSH IG course?
NEBOSH IGC bears two exams, IG1, IG2 IG 1 is a written exam which was conducted in the British Council previously. But now due to changing world direction in the pandemic situation of COVID-19, NEBOSH has launched a new pattern to conduct the IGC exam Online through a standardized and quality manner.
OBE-IG1 Exams have two sections, first you need to solve an online exam of 24 hours which is totally research and scenario based. This is called the Open Book Exam (OBE). You can get help from notes, books or the internet to solve this exam.
Closing Interview-Second portion of this exam is the closing interview of 20 to 30 min where you will be interviewed through video link for the work you have submitted as Open Book Exam. Though the closing interview is not an assessment, it must take place before your results can be declared. You need to get 45 Marks to clear the OBE IG1 exam.
IG2 is a practical assignment report which must be developed in any industry by applying the knowledge gained from IG1 & IG2 and must be submitted within 10 days of Exam Date. The minimum standard required for a Unit IG2 ‘Pass’. If the minimum criteria are not met then your assessment will receive a ‘Refer’ result.

What is the Eligibility Criteria for NEBOSH IGC?
There are no specific barriers, in terms of academic qualifications, skills or experience to entry to the NEBOSH International General Certificate programme. However, it should be noted that where the assessments are offered in English, they must be answered in English only. This includes a requirement to write a short report based on the candidate’s own workplace. Candidates should visit IEHSAS’s office to give an English assessment before undertaking the qualification. This assessment will include the written, reading and spoken skills of candidate’s which will help him to understand the NEBOSH international General Certificate syllabus requirement and candidates’ standards of proficiency in English. At IEHSAS we accept the candidates which must have at least intermediate qualification especially in Pre Engineering, pre-Medical, DAE and ICS with at least 60% marks with proficiency in written/ spoken/ reading in English. Candidates with a BS engineering background are highly recommended.
What grades can be obtained in the NEBOSH IGC course?
When candidates have been awarded a unit certificate for all three units, the marks are added together and a final grade is awarded as follows:
Distinction: 75 marks or higher
Credit: 65 – 74 marks

Risk Assessment: 3 hours tuition and 2 hours private study Total: 5 hours
